I’m Leigh Matthews, better known as L.
I am a detail-oriented data analyst, knowledge translation expert, novelist, and useful generalist living on the Sunshine Coast, BC.

Converting complex information into clear, accessible, and evidence-based content. Which typically looks like:
- Analyzing data
- Developing dashboards and reports
- Writing for the web or print media.
I specialize in analyzing data for non-profits and public health and writing for health, environment, and sustainability audiences.
I’m especially drawn to work that supports equity, public health, and environmental responsibility.
I’m at my best when:
I’m making messy information useful, improving systems, and helping people understand what matters most.
The need to know:
- I hold degrees in Philosophy/English and Nutritional Medicine, and certifications in Data Analysis and Data Science.
- My background spans non-profit operations, research, communications, and content development.
- I have many years of experience working alongside executives, physicians, researchers, and cross-functional teams.
- I’m a useful person to have around.

Off the side of my desk, I’m also an author, Co-Chair of my kid’s non-profit daycare board, wrangler of two rescue puppies, an avid reader, enthusiastic knitter, veggie gardener, ocean swimmer, and occasional breadmaker.
